Engine Dies

I have a 1987 GMC Jimmy fullsize, 350 trottlebody.

About 3 weeeks ago I started it and drove a foot or two and it died. The gas guage doesn't work so I put 5 gallons of gas in it and it started and ran fine.

We were repainting the truck so it sat in a shop for Apx. 10 days. When finished, I drove to a gas station and it only took 4 gallons of gas to fill it.

I drove the truck Apx. 150 miles with no problem. Then we took it to a lake to fish and when I went to back it up to unload the boat it died, but started right back up. We fished 4 or 5 hours started the truck and loaded the boat, but when I went to leave it died and would not start. A friend listened and could not hear the elec fuel pump kick on and at the trottle body inj. we were not spraying any gas.

We pulled the truck and boat with a truck Apx. 1/2 mile to leave it and I hit the starter and it fired right up. It has ran fine for some 75 miles now but I amd afraid to take a long trip.

I took it to a shop and they could not figure it out.

Any advice would be greaty appreciated

Richard
