Avalanche Performance Upgrades

I just completed my first round of performance upgrades on my Avalanche Z71.

I went with the Flowmaster SUV 50, single inlet, dual outlet style muffler. This worked well as I was able to replace the factory muffler with this one without any other exhaust modifications. Nice and easy, and kept the factory [stealth] look. The FM SUV 50 has a nice deep mellow purr to it without any cabin resonance. Which is what I like. When I apply throttle the SUV 50 comes alive. When driving on the highway you hardly notice it.

I also installed the K&N FIPK. Install took about an hour to take off the old air box and put on the new air gear. The K&N install instructions were excellent. If you have heard that the air tube is a tight fit with the fan shroud it is. But if you get it in there just right you have about 1/4 room between the shroud and the air tube. Looks good and works good.

Since these two changes I have noticed better throttle response from the Ava. Anyway, two great mods I am pleased with. Now... whats next?

how much was the flowmaster?  What was the price?

You could try:

Headers - Gibson, JBA or The Other Guys

Torque Converter - Yank 3200

and of course there is always a Whipple SuperCharger when you get bored :)

Another good intake to get for the Avalanche is the Volant. Have one on my Av for 3 weeks now and i love great response and not too loud. New exhaust new week cant wait. Later...

There's a few mods that you can do for some added power, you already go the exhaust and K&N, so next I would say look into these:

Helix Power Tower,

New Throttle Body,

Grantanelli Mass Air Flow Sensor,

New Headers,

Supercharger,

Magnecore plug wires,

HPP III,

and some more

www.truckperformance.com is a good place to start looking.  They've got the best prices, great selection, and there site is pretty easy to surf.  If you are looking to spend just a little bit more go for some new headers and an hppIII

I just had installed the flowmaster 40 series. This was all I needed to music from the rear of my avalanche. It is deep and throaty but mild. when I gas it you'll know but the tune isn't to alarming. I think this is a good way to go with increased torque as well. :)
