Hey guys I had my 4L60E rebuilt a while back, shifts PERFECTly ever since then. Here's the problem though. It's more evident when its cold out, but it makes a knocking sound. It goes away when it warms up, but is still there slightly. It is evident in all gears, except when I put it in reverse it completely goes away.

Any ideas? Oh yea..it's in a 95 Blazer 4x4

Does the knocking vary with engine speed or vehicle speed? Is it any worse when 4wd is engaged? If the engine is warmed up but not the trans, does it knock like cold or warm?

It varies with engine speed. Tried some more stuff today in the driveway, it was very evident in park or nuetral, but then in gear anytime with a load on the engine it disappeared....

Now that you have it narrowed down like that, I think it's time to go visit the guy who rebuilt the trans and ask him what the noise is and why it goes away when you tighten up the drive train.

Sounds like its the U-joints. If the U-joints are bad they make noise when you are cruising, but as soon as you put a load on the joint the noise stops.

If it's u-joints, it'd be road speed related, not engine speed related. But it might be the flex plate at the front of the trans...either cracked (fatigue cracked) or maybe not bolted on properly. Might be able to inspect it by removing the starter...Could also be a worn out engine having too much end play in the crankshaft, letting bolts on the flex plate contact the bell housing.
