Towing mirrors

Has anyone used mirrors like this for towing? They're supposed to slide over your stock mirrors and tighten with one knob. I'd say about 25% of the mileage on my Suburban is from towing so I don't want to replace the mirrors with anything that is to big. Something like this seems to blend in and I can take them off when I'm done.

They look like a good idea to me.  I've towed our boat with just the stock mirrors and it wasn't bad but those add-on mirrors look like they'd help.  My only concern is if they will shake and thus be distorted.  The old tube type truck mirrors were notorious for that.

Go for it and report back!

Tom,

I've used the type of mirrors (or something similar) before.  They get the job done but they do vibrate a little at speed.  Not so bad you can't see the car behind you, but you might have a little harder time seeing the "bubble" on top of it unless it's flashing... LOL

I have the factory extendable towing mirrors on my HD.  They work very well but I wish the passanger side was convex (it's flat).  They aren't power operated either, but once I set my power mirrors I hardly ever touch them, so it's not a big deal...

Tom, one of our members, Steve Cornell, has a set of Lucerix replacement mirrors on his HD.  He does a good bit of towing with it as well.  You may want to contact him for more info.  Here's a link to his site:

Good luck.

I just hope that GM takes the exact same towing mirror as the Ford SuperDutys and makes them the towing mirrors for the Silverados before the 2004 model year.  They are manual extend, but they have a power main glass, are heated and have an adjustable blind spot mirror on each side.  Not to mention they have a very large glass area, and I think they look good.  IMHO they are the best mirrors you could get right now for a towing truck.  Probably won't happen, but I'd pay $150-200 for them over the factory power mirrors if GM were to offer them.  Guess I can keep dreaming though, because it probably won't happen.

I agree completely, I really like those things.

Put me down for liking the Ford mirrors too. Those things are nice!

I've checked out the mirror's on Steve's truck and like how they look but they are a little bigger than what I'm looking for. I think I'll grab a set of the ones pictured and see how they work. I few weeks ago I got pulled over for towing in the left lane and doing 10 over the speed limit. I guess the cop was back there for awhile because he asked me why I didn't pull over when he put his lights on. I told him that I didn't see him back there and he says "of course you didn't, look how small these mirrors are!" :)
