Cluster/radio lights dim a bit

Hi,

Not sure if I'm getting enough power from my alternator/battery...

With my radio on (stock head unit and replacement pioneer speakers) and cluster lights on they all dim down when I turn on my headlights.

 

Is there a problem with it needing more power or an alternator with more amps (I think I got the 105A one (stock)

I also notice with my headlights on and apply the brakes, the headlights dim down a bit.

 

I have PSteering, PBrakes, PWindows, PLocks, (the seat controls are manual)...

 

Any ideas?

try clicking the dimmer knob up past where it seems like it stops. if your cab lights turn on, you have gone too far.

Check your battery cables. If they are loose or corroded they can cause that.

Don't the cluster/radio lights dim w/ headlights by design? This way the dash lights don't blind you during night driving. They need to be brighter during the day to compete with the sun. My '03 dash lights dim automatically w/ headlights... and it's a good thing.
