Should I trade the HD?

I cant help but see the Employee pricing.

I've got an 04 2500hd Sierra ext cab shortbed 4x4. I have maintained this thing 500x better than people take care of their wives.

It is only lacking a few things, but I got a hell of a deal on it. I ended up paying around $27,000, and I got a boat load for my trade in---much more than what I paid for it.

I have had it 18 months, JUST broke 9200 miles. It's mint mint mint. Inside still smells new, underneath it gets washed, never driven in the rain, not out in the sun, etc. (I have a work truck)

It's only lacking a rear G80, a center console, and Onstar/6disc changer.

I'm really thinking of trading it for an 05 sierra just like it but with the above options added.

I've paid a lot extra to the principal and I think I only owe around $22/$21,000.

All the stuff would come off--toolbox, cb, green keys, tires, bed rails, everything not stock.

What do you think? I pay around $420 a month...

Well the GM Employee price is hard to pass up.

I have been looking for a replacement for my 01 but cant find what Im looking for on the lot, so looks like Ill be ordering an 06.

I say do whatever is best for you. If you can get a newer truck with the options you want now is the time to do it. Plus your truck is awesome looking so Im sure you will get a great trade-in price. Good Luck :seeya:

Personally, I think you are nuts.

When the new stuff gets cheaper, the used stuff gets even cheaper. They won't give you much for your truck because they will have to price it cheap enough (retail) to make it appealing for someone who may be considering the GM pricing like you are. This will lead to a very low wholesale price to you.

In the end, you will probly lose most, if not all of the additional principal you have paid.

I am in no way being rude or disrespectful and if you want a new truck and can get a great deal, I will be happy that I am wrong, but I just see you being disappointed with the numbers you will be shown.

Good Luck and let us know what you decide. :seeya:

Definitely go private sale if you're going to get rid of yours, but as the others said, it has been and is becoming even more of a used BUYER's market.

went to the lot and looked tonight

No way in hell I'm trading the Hd for what's there. I've got it set up good and I swear mine looks like it sits higher...I don't remember mine sitting so low even when I bought it. Is there different heigt HD's?

I'm gonna keep it...I checked tonight--I owe 22,011 on it. Not bad ....I'll have it paid off in no time.

I'm just going to buy a console, and a G80 and call it done.

With all the rebates and reduced pricing on new, it's a bit difficult to calculate current value on used.

Go to KBB.com and check what they calculate the TRADE-IN value for your truck.

Ideally you should owe around $1000 less than what the trade-in value is. The trade-in value should be the "anytime" dump price. So for budgeting purposes anything above the trade-in value puts you upside-down in your current loan and you would most likely be paying extra to trade for an '05. Don't forget the license, tags and tax costs for the '05.
