Window Tint Brands

Guys - I am taking my dad's Vette to have the windows tinted for father's day. The place I am taking it to has a choice of two brands - 3M and Llumar. I have used Llumar in the past and can't remember any problems with it.

Do you have a preference? Why?

Thanks!

I have Llumar on all my cars. It has a lifetime warranty and there are dealers that install it all over the country. May be true for 3M as well, but none of the local shops here in San Diego had it :chevy:

I have not had any problems with my tint. On a previous car (96 Honda Civic) the rear window started to change color around the window defroster elements. I took it back to the dealer that installed the tint and they replaced it free of charge under the warranty. That is why I continue to use their products. :D

Is there now a metallized that does not reflect like a mirror? I've been out of the touch with tinting for a few years. When I tinted my last vehicle the metallized tints that were offered all had a silver mirrored look, but I liked the dark smoked look so had to go with dyed tint. After about 3yrs it was turning a slight purple, just like all prior dyed tints that I have used.

Yes, metallized tint comes in the black color. 7yrs ago I had Solargard metallized tint put in my car, and it didn't change color at all after sitting out in the sun for 4yrs (didn't have a garage until 3yrs ago). I just recently had my wife's car tinted with Solargard metallized tint as well. If you want to see the color of it, you can see it here. SolarGard also has a lifetime warranty against fading/discoloration.
