Waxing a black truck?

Recommended Posts

I need to know what is the best wax for "onyx black" I have a new Avalanche of course with factory paint and wanted to put a protective coat of wax on my truck. I have used Miguires in the past and it has always proven pretty good, easy on easy off and with wonderful results. ONE THING I HATE IS SWIRLS ON THE FINISH and certain waxing products can produce this effect, especially with buffers and this is not the result I'm looking for. So if you know of any good products that is tried and proven and you are willing to endorse for free, speak now or for ever hold your peace. Those with black trucks need only respond, Thank You...........

I have a black Ava as well. The BEST thing to user BEFORE you use anything else is ZAINO. See zainobros.com for information. You will want z1, z2 and z5 for sure. This is all I will use on black, and my Pewter 2000 Vette.

I've read a lot about Zaino and most of the folks say it's the best.  I've also heard of "Mother's", is this stuff good?  My truck is white so I don't have to worry as much as you dark colored vehicle owner do about swirls but I still want the best protection for my paint.

Mothers and Meguires are both good products.  I've never used Zaino, but I'd say it's good stuff.  MANY people have good things to say about it.

I use Formula 113 but am planning on switching to Zaino in the spring. It is realy the best stuff to use. I would recommend using a clay bar to get the trash out of the paint. It makes all the difference.

When I had my black truck the best wax I used was EagleOne paste wax with cleaner never swirled and looked real good also may wanna keep some Meguairs Quick Detailer on hand.

I'd go w/ zaino over anything.  W/ black it's really hard to keep clean so not only will zaino give it a glossier look, but it will make it easier to clean and less prone to getting dirty.

I have also heard "really" good things about the California Duster. I hear this helps with "dust Management" in-between washes.

Oh, by the way, your also going to fall in love with a new smell if you go with the Zaino. It's sweeeeeeeeeet!

The best site for Learning about Detailing and Zaino is...

LS1.com

Once there go to the link for "show car detailing"

ON MY DADS BLACK 92 S-10 i used to use this 3m stuff.  One day when i was waxing my truck with zaino (indigo blue truck) i decided to do his hood for a test.  WOW he couldnt believe it.  Stuff is to expensive to use on a work truck so i didnt do the whole thing.
