Hood Flutter

Any of you guys with '05 Chevy HD's have hood flutter?

Only reason I'm asking is because yesterday I took an '05 2500HD (Crew-Cab-DMAX/Allison) on dealer trade (From Pittsburgh to Charleston,WV.) for an Ext.Cab 2500HD and the Crew-Cabs hood fluttered like crazy on the way down above 45-50 MPH and the Ext.Cab's hood didn't flutter at all on the way back.

That may be it,The way it was fluttering it seemed like it was the sheetmetal itself,You know how thin it is these days!

Yes my 05 HD hood flutters driving down the highway. I plan on adjusting the rubber snubbers but haven't done it yet. Surprized it left the factory that way.

How do you adjust them? I hear/see mine fluttering from time to time and was wondering how to make it stop.

Its easy,Just open the hood and on both sides of the radiator support on top there are rubber bumpers,Just turn them up or down as needed.

no flutter from my hood. Had to demonstrate to the father in law the other day that the truck was governed at 99mph  . No flutter at that speed either. Your's most likely just needs adjusting.

Mine does this also... it does look more like the thin sheet metal they are using "fluttering" .

Yea,Thats what I thought...Its more of the sheetmetal itself than the hood being out of adjustment.

I'm going to have to take a couple different HD's for some test drives and see how they do.

A lot of the 99-02 and 03-up hoods are weak right in front og the hinge plate on the rear. When you close some of them you can see it flex right there. Every time I see that I can just imagine the hood bending in 2 right there. Yikes!

Most are right, on the sss forum we were discussing the "hood flutter" effect, at different speeds, most of us a simple rubber bumper adjustment and it mostly went away at "normal" freeway speeds, but anything 95+ well.... :fume:

When I picked up my new 2500HD back in March and left the dealers lot I thought the hood was unlatched it fluttered so badly. I was waiting for it to fly open. I stopped as quickly as possible and checked it out. It was firmly latched. I didn't have time to deal with it then so I just left it. About 2 weeks later I had the OEM hood removed and replaced it with a Goodmark all steel 2" cowl riser hood. When I got it back from the body shop the new hood didn't have the problem.
