Unlisted RPO Codes?

Recommended Posts

It's bugging me that I can't find the description for several RPO codes listed inside the glove box. My truck is a '99 Sierra Classic 1500. I was able to match all but 13 of 74 codes using the 1999 and 1998 RPO code listings from this web site. (Yeah, I might be bored today.) Anyway, the question is: are there unlisted codes or should I expect to be able to match them all?

My unmatched codes are ARL, EVA, FK2, FK3, R9L, SLL, TFE, VXS, ZQ3, 1SC, 1SZ, 6GK, and 7GK.

OK, Here you are:

ARL-Plant Code, Your vehicle was built in Arlington, Texas

EVA- Emission Requirement Test

FK2,FK3-Torsion Bar Spring Adjuster, In simple terms, L & R Torsion Bar Keys

R9L-Control, Don't know what kind.

SLL- Sales processing order, Factory order vehicle

TFE- Sales incentive for the Factory order

VXS- Complete Vehicle

ZQ3-Driver Convenience Package

1SC-Trim Level

1SZ- Option Package Discount

6GK,7GK- L & R Torsion Bars(8615 ft. lbs.Torque)

I am surprised your truck has the GK bars as these are the bars that are on the NBS 2500 Series trucks(8600GVW). I hope this helps. :jester:

Jacqson,

Thank you for your help! I wonder if the GK torsion bar codes are the result of this truck being built during the old and new body style overlap. It was assembled in May '98 according to the stickers. The truck also has the Z82 code (Trailering Provisions HD) -- maybe that's related? I don't know.

Anyway, thanks again for your help.

MS3DALE,

Nope, not F60 or F44. Related to chassis and suspension it has:

FK2 and FK3

6GK and 7GK

Q4B - 6200 # GVWR

YD3 - front axle for scheduling GVW plate

YD6 - rear spring base equipment

Z71 - off road suspension

Z82 - trailering provisions HD

VR4 - trailer hitch platform

For engine/tranny/brakes it has:

G80 - locking rear axle

GU6 - 3.42:1 rear axle ratio

JB5 - brakes, front disc, rear drum 6400 #

L31 - V8 5.7L CPI

KC4 - heavy duty engine oil cooling

KNP - transmission oil cooler

M30 - Hydra-Matic 4L60E transmission

NA1 - emissions systems (at or below 8500# GVWR)

NP1 - electronic transfer case

Hopefully something in there will help explain the torsion bars.

OK,I just thought it might have one of those options because F60 is heavy-duty front springs and F44 is the heavy-duty chassis pkg.

That would have been my guess why it has the heavier bars but now I don't know :jester:
