No Climate Control on Tahoe Z71?? WHY??

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at getting a Z71 Tahoe.  However, one of the options that has spoiled me on my other vehicles is the automatic climate control.  Can someone tell me why you can't get it on a Z71 Tahoe?  I've verified this through two dealers and chevy.com.

I know that this is a small request, and I'll probably get the truck anyway, but it just bugs me..... ???

Just to add to the mystery - you can get it on a Z71 Avalanche....

Any thoughts?

Look closer, and you will find the heated seats are not available either. I was considering a Z71 Tahoe, and from the order package, the Z71 was an upgrade to the LS version, and thus lacked a few of the high end options (like climate control)

Yeah I noticed that you can't get the 3rd row seats or heated seats.  But I live in Louisiana and only have one kid, so I don't need either.  ;)

I do like the idea of climate control, though....

Welcome to the forum.  I'll have to look at my sales brochure when I get home tonight......after the SIU and Bradley game! (Let's go Saluki's)    :D  A possible explaination is that the Tahoe had them before the Avalanche, but to get more people to get the Ave, they put them on it.  Like I said I need to research that.

If you are right about not being able to get the heated leather seats, I have extreme pitty for you!  :P  I can do without the climate control, but those heated seats get you warm really quick in the winter.

Just speculation but if you look at the price of a Z-71 Tahoe and then add the climate control and heated seat package that would push the price into the 42K-43K range.  GM probably didn't want a Tahoe in that range when the GMC Yukon is near that.  It's a pricing game.

I beg to differ with the cost arguement....

According to GM BuyPower, the climate control is a no cost option the LS.  Why not Z71?

As far as the LS being the top of the line - it still would be.  Nothing matches that ride.  The Z71 is meant to do other things.

I appreciate you guys responses, but I still think this should be on a Z71.  Maybe it will be added to next year's option content.
