Anyone know how to remove the PCM so I can send it in to get a tune? Any info would be great! Is it behind the glove box like in my old '91 half ton? Thanks

Mine is in the engine compartment on the drivers side front. I have no clue on the 6.0's, but I'd start there. Should have a plastic shroud over it.

Yep,

drivers side just in back of the radiator shroud. Can't miss it, must be a gadzillion wires bundled up going to it. It has a snap off plastic shroud over it and is held in by a clip on the top.

There's also two 7mm bolts (1/connector) that hold the two connectors for the gadzillion wires to the PCM. They actually go in several threads so keep unscrewing until the stupid things are free otherwise you can't budge the connector. Oh and there's this little red gasket that goes around the connector to make it more weathertight. Make sure that comes out and stays in one piece.

Yeah, on my 8.1 it was on the drivers side, on the backside of the fan shroud. I came across the Allison computer first, then under a plastic shroud the PCM with two connectors with the 7mm bolts. Good luck.

Soooo, when I get my Westers you don't think I need to worry about the battery. Just pull out the old and put in the new? I hope it ends up being that easy but nothing I do ends up that easy. Look up Murphy's Law in the dictionary and there is a pic of me! :chevy:

Nope, not this time, Homie !!

I've done a good half-dozen swaps, never once disconnected the battery, and never once had any problems, other than the security relearn.

It really is just that easy. It'll take 10 minutes the first time, including a 420 break and a beer :):D:D:chevy:

I can swap them in about 3~5 minutes now.

Thanks everyone for your help. I found it and got it out without a fuss! :chevy:

I just got home and my Westers box was just calling my name on the doorstep. Wish me luck. Quad, I printed out the security relearn procedure. Hopefully, I wont have to bug ya by PM to get your cell. Wish me luck!
