AV rear window tint

I have an early build AV ( July) and the rear window has the dark tint. I read in another forum to check the plastic frame around the glass, because they were prone to cracking. Mine has a crack on the passenger side, so the dealer ordered one.

When they first tried to order it, they could not find the listing for dark tint ( only light or none). The one they ordered and received was light tint, so they returned it.

Today we got a Cadi EXT at work, and I noticed the rear window is a light tint!

Have any of the AV owners noticed that the dark tint rear window reflects the instrument panel lights at night, and backing up you get a lot of glare? I am wondering if this issue has been made with GM, and the dark tint parts are replaced with a light tint?

And/or, what tint are the new AV's coming with?

My rear window is as dark as the side windows of the rear doors.

Bottom line: My BgBlkAvalanche needs the dark tint

I have noticed that the radio and ac/heat controls show up clear and bright in the  back glass at night.  I think it's more of a function of the window being flat and parallel to the dashboard than the tint.

I have noticed the reflection on my AV2500 as well.  I don't know how much lighter glass would cut that down.  I wonder if it was changed because of interference with the auto dimming rearview mirror function??

I have just looked at mine, and I would say the rear glass is about the same as the front side windows, not darker like the rear side windows.

In the pickups the heated rear glass is light tint where as the non-heated glass is dark (if you pay for it).  My auto-dimming mirror has to look through 2 panes of light tint and one of dark tint (I have a cap on my bed), and it works great!!!

I guess you could always take the light tint window and have it professionally tinted a few shades darker.

Glad to hear you can still get a "dark tint" rear window.  I've been watching the trim around mine just in case it ever cracks like I'd heard they are prone to doing.  So far, so good.  But if it did, I'd want a "dark" replacement.  The tint on mine is as dark as the rear windows--I really like that you can't see in except in the front.  If it wasn't more $$$, probably illegal, and a little dangerous (I already can't see enough of my surroundings), I'd tint the front side windows to match.

Anyway, I also have noticed the dashboard lights reflecting in the rear window at night.  The first couple times I saw that, I was like "What the heck??"  Who's tailing me with a sign?!  But then I realized...  I've gotten used to it.  I find no interference between this and the auto-dimming rearview mirror.  It all seems to work well together.
