I'm pretty sure it will work but will a 160 degree thermostat for a 99-02 5.3 engine work in my ,03 5.3 There's a hypertech thermostat on ebay for $55 shiped to me so I was thinking about getting one. and I already know that I need a retune If I install it. thanks

That will be a cool running truck. Unless you have a need for the cooler thermo, stay with stock. I still have the orignal factory thermo in my 98 with over 150k on the clock.

I'd tend to agree, if the engineers at GM calculated that a 160 degree thermostat would be more effective all around than whatever they put in, they would have put in a 160 degree thermostat!
