Chevy Rear Ends

I'll be purchasing a 1500 - 2500hd truck...........I see some of the different rear ends and gears. The truck will be used for personal use but reason for getting is landscape sidework. I'll be getting a 2000+ truck and debating 4x4.

 

Would someone mind enlightening me on the different rear ends?

 

Example, which is better at say towing or mpg or what is the one thats "just right" etc.

As far as gearing goes,3:73 is a good all around gear ratio,I would say that would be your "just right" ratio
