Oil capacity

On a 99 5.3 is it 6qts. or 6.5 ?

My 2000 takes 6 quarts

I know when I change my oil and filter, I put in 6 qts and it'll show a little low on the stick, about a quarter quart, I'd say.  I don't worry about it too much.

O.K. Thats what I noticed when I checked mine, I added 6 qts. and it showed the same

Wasnt there an issue with the oil stick being off on some models?

Yea the dipstick is supposed to be off a little bit

Just go with 6 qts and you will be fine

I know overfilling is bad....if you do have an oil stick that is off is it off enough to hurt anything if you put that extra 1/4-1/2 quart in?

6 quarts and 6 quarts only. Like Newbie said too much is bad.
