I want to flush out the brake fluid on my truck this weekend. I did the brakes last year but didn't bother with the fluid. :driving: I coundn't find anything in the Tech Corner. Does anyone know where I can find it on the net or can they explain it to me?

Thanks. :P

Suck as much out of the master cylinder reservoir as possible, and add new, then bleed each wheel, starting as far from the master cylinder (right rear, left rear, right front, left front). Bleed until the fluid runs clear/new. Don't get fluid on paint, I've heard it does bad things.

I did this in my 2001 K2500 Burban and my wife's 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I used ATE Super Blue racing brake fluid I found on eBay.

So, as the other post described, replace the fluid in your master cylinder first. Then start bleeding it out of each brake. Start at the farthest brake and work towards the nearest to the master cylinder. Check the master cylinder OFTEN and keep it filled during the process!!

I used the Blue stuff so when I was bleeding the brakes, I knew when the fluid had reached the calipers. It's easy as pie. Use a brake bleeder (that vacuum operated plastic cup thing) to make it easier!

I even think ATE makes a red fluid purposely to make subsequest changes easy since you can see the blue move out and the red come in!

ATE makes a blue and a gold colored brake fluid.

I use them in a track car and in all of my vehicles. It is a good fluid and a high boiling point. Motive makes a great pressure bleeder but I don't think they have an attachment for the rectangular / like brake fluid reservoirs on these trucks.

Most european and other brake fluid reservoirs have a round opening and the pressure brake bleeder works wonders. Could probably buy a spare truck brake fluid reservoir cover, modifly to accept a fitting compatible with the Motive bleeder and then it could be a proper one-person flush without needing a second to pump the pedal.

FWIW
