Can I tap into the wires for the cig lighter to power my cb and what color do I need to find in there, red ?

Yes, that will work....thats how I have mine wired up

 

You should find a red and a black wire going to the lighter socket, the black is ground and the red is a constant 12v (not switched by ignition, at least on my '98 thats how it is) My CB had 3 leads, one ground, one switched 12v, and one constant 12v....I just tied the constant and switched 12v together and to the red lead going to the lighter, and obviously matched the ground leads together, just remember to turn it off if you pan on leaving your truck parked for an extended period of time so you dont kill your battery as it wont be switched on/off by the igniton
