Tire Pressure??

Recommended Posts

I just got my 2005 GMC 2500HD. It has the OEM Bridgestone Duaravis M773 II tires, 245 75 16R. The sticker on the door says 55 pounds in front and 80 pounds in the rear. The bed of the truck is empty 99% of the time. I noticed that 80 psi is maximum on the tires.

What do those who have the similiar set run for tire pressure?

Thank

80 in the rear, unloaded, will wear the center tread out real quick. I run 50 front and 60 rear "unloaded" (unloaded is with about 1500lbs of tool boxs/tools etc). It gives a softer ride but you get less gas milage. Max it out when I am going to pick up a heavy order.

I'm running 65 in the front and 55 in the rear.

I was running 55 all the way around, but the Dmax is heavy up front, and it required me to add alittle bit more up there.

When towing or hauling anything heavy, it's a good idea to air up the rear tires.

I run 45 psi F & R on the same tires you have when empty. Much better ride. No abnormal wear in 4,000 miles so far.

When I picked up the truck, it had 80 PSI F & R. That was ridiculous (empty). Like ridding on solid rubber tires.
