My wife has a 99 1500 GMC 4x4 and the service engine soon light came on a couple of days ago. Today see went to start it and all it does is turn over it does not start. My question is what would trip the engine light that would not allow the engine to start?

How do I pull the DTC(S), used to be able to jumper connector and count service light flashes.

Have you listened for the feul pump to activate when you turn the key to the run position?

  Ok well I guess Lake disagrees with me on a few points. I call oil consumption pretty basic. Rudimentary. He calls it "really complicated." I think 1qt consumed in 3k miles is a lot. He says that's normal. In 22 minutes, he'll use his natural talent to explain oil consumption to anyone watching this video. He covers everything from obvious engine damage to how normally functioning healthy engines consume oil by design. Lake explicitly states how you drive will impact oil consumption. Shut up and watch:

  Check for broken bolts holding the exhaust manifolds to the heads, common problem. Dorman makes a repair piece if you find you have broken 1s and don't want to do the surgery to replace them

  My dealer says it's the 6.6 from the HD modified for the 1500's. So, my money's on the 6.7.
