My parking brake has pretty much quit working. Like, it doesn't hold as well as it used to.

Adjustment? Or new brake?

Thanks

Or better yet, take it to the dealer...you should have a recall on it....if the rotors are worn, ask them why they dont replace them also under the RECALL!...if they dont, and you KNOW they need replacing, call GM....

got to yank the rotors to know for sure. Be prepared to buy new shoes and rotors

$$$$?? What's it gonna cost?

Actually a lot less than you'd expect as long as you get discount pricing at any auto parts store down there. I just did all 4 rotors and all 6 brakes and it was around the $300 Can mark. I did all the work myself; the back brakes are a walk in the park it's the front brakes that are a bitch...

I bought all my parts at Lordco up here in Canada...

New Rear E-Brakes were $80 for the pair and if memory serves me right the Drums were only about $60 for the pair and new rear shoes were $55 for the set.

My E-brake worked fine but, when I pulled the drum off the Driverside E-Brake shoe was warn right down. The book says that the E-Brake is suppose to just brush the inside of the drum when installed. My Dad and I looked at each other and said, hmmm NOPE! We installed it completely retracted and if it needs adjustment I'll just adjust the cable under the truck. It does not need to rub along the inside of the drum. It's just a parking brake after all.

Hope this helps.... :driving:
