volume sensative mic Question

OK...I thought I needed to buy the mic, but now I am not sure.

I found a mic in the headliner right above the driver. The mic screen is obvious and there are wires running to it - Green, WHite, Brown , and Black. I am thinking that is the mic for volume adjustment on the nav HU. Or...is it a mic for Onstar. I don't have Onstar (Could it may be installed anyway?).

Question 1 = is this the volume operating mic?

Question 2 = If it is, where do I find the appropriate wires by the amp to plug into the amp C1 conmnector at B1 slot?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

That is the onstar mic, the SCV mic is located i beleive in the center console.

Thanks, that was what I was thinking till I saw this post by trustworthy BBSILVERADO:

QUOTE The mic clips on the drivers side of the overhead console. The two wires go to the Bose amp connector (24 pin connector) the dark green mic wire connects in the B1 position and the ground goes to B2 or B7 (both are the same) UNQUOTE

That got me wondering. Dave

For the Speed Sens volume, i dont believe there is any mic for that.

SCV is ONLY speed dependent based on the speedo, there is no mic that senses road / wind noise. If there were, your radio would go nuts every time a Harley went by!

I am now confused

The following is the designated pins for the amp connector. Notice that B1 is desigated for the volume compensating mic.

QUOTE:

Here is the wires that need to be moved in the 24 pin connector to go from a non-lux amp to a lux amp.

A1 - do nothing

A2 - do nothing

A5 - move to A4 (brown wire)

A6 - move to A3 (yellow)

A7 - move to A8 (dark blue)

A8 - move to A7 (light blue)

A9 - move to A5 (tan)

A10 - move to A6 (gray)

A11 - move to A9 (light green)

A12 - move to A10 (dark green)

B1 - cap off, not used (gray/black)

B2 - cap off, not used (purple)

B3 - cap off, not used (black)

B4 - cap off, not used (dark blue)

B5 - cap off, not used (dark green/white)

B6 - cap off, not used (brown)

B7 - move to B3 (orange/black)

B8 - move to B6 (light green)

B9 - move to B4 (dark green)

B10 - move to B5 (tan)

B11 - cap off, not used (pink)

B12 - move to B7 (bare wire)

Add data bus wire from B1 (small orange wire) on the headunit 24 pin connector to B10

Add microphone wire to B1 (optional, but recommended for the sound compensated volume to work)

Per this...there must be a mic for volume compensation. I purchased GM part #15240415 - a microphone. It is plugged into the B1 and seems to work. I would like to see it work better....or even confirm it is working correctly.
