I have a 2005 Sierra Denali. The Truck makes a squealing sound when you turn the wheel more than 1/2 turn. More so when turning left. It also seems to do it more so after being driven for a little while. I took it to my dealer and they said there was a bullieen regarding trucks with a 600 series steering gear I think? They ordered a valve that goes between the hose and pump that was supposed to correct the problem. The problem still presist. Any help?

Is it actually a squeal (high pitched) or is a moan/groan type of noise?

As far as I know, the only fix for the latter is replacing the gear assembly. Never heard of any sort of valve to put in the line.

I would call it a squeal. It sounds similar to when you turn a older vehicles steering to full lock and hold it. Just not as loud.

The problem still presist? I have since heard of three other 05' Sierra Denali with the same issue. See this link http://www.denalitrucks.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1865 It appears no one has been able to get it resolved and all those involved are running the 20" wheel and tire package. Any sugestions or updates?

Thanks

I have no suggestions. I'd have to hear it. The gear box problem does not result in a high pitched whine, so I doubt that's it. Like I said, hearing it would make it relatively easy to narrow it down.

Document ID# 1707118 High pitched whistle noise on turns with 680 series gearbox #PIT3434B (Sep 27, 2005). Not sure is this is a TSB or not. After returning to my dealer they gave me a copy. unfortunatly mine has already been through the adapter ( no change ) . My dealer tells me to wait for the revised gearbox, but couldnt tell me when that might be. Do you have any insight?
