Selling my old GM Bose head unit

I just installed a factory nav radio into my '03 Escalade and it works great. I would now like to sell my old head unit on eBay. I probably won't get a lot for it, but it would be something.

The unit is for the premium Bose system (with Y91 option). It had the lux amp, rear DVD entertainment and OnStar, slave 6-disc CD changer (I'm keeping that) and the unit itself has the single disc CD player, tape player and RDS. It did not have XM radio. I will also be selling the PIE GM12-AUX auxiliary input adapter that I had hooked up to the unit with it.

My question is, does this head unit also have a theftlock that needs to be deactivated by a dealer like my DVD nav radio did?

So, does anyone know? Does the non-navigation HU have a theftlock on it that needs to be deactivated by the dealer if installed in another vehicle?

When put back in another vehicle it won't work due to wrong VIN so yea it will probably be theftlocked

Yes, all of the Delphi double-din radios in the 03+ trucks have the VIN learn Theftlock. Your old unit will still be tied to the Escalades VIN. (which is nice, because you could switch back and forth if you wanted, for diagnosing a problem, or swapping the old radio back in before trading it in, etc)

This is a good point. If you have a nav radio you are about to swap into your truck, and you are taking it to the dealership for programming, it would make sense to have the tech hook up to the truck and clear the VIN off your original radio first, then key the truck off, immediately remove the radio, replace with nav unit, then program the nav. Then you could sell your old head unit on eBay and mention that the VIN has been cleared from the unit and it is ready to install!
