J-Hooks For behind The Cab Tool Boxes???

Recommended Posts

I thought I read somewhere on here that Chevy didn't advise the use of J-hooks for holding down a bed toolbox. Is this true? No way do I want to drill my bed!

If you over-tighten, you will bend that part of the rail--not upwards, but side-ways. A very quick solution is just to get a thin piece of angle iron and put it between the j-hook and the rail. Maybe about a six-inch long piece.

Works perfectly.

GUYS.......GM had a kit issued under a TSB to use to prevent bending

of the bed rails when a box was mounted................

I just cut down some plywood to 1x2s and used construction

adhesive and stuck 6 pieces under the bedrails so the clamps

for my tonneau cover hold down clamps wouldn't bend up the

bed rails.

I suppose you could do the same...........................geo
