Nav radio doesn't like my wife!

This story is actually started in another thread, but I wanted to move it to its own topic.

I installed a nav radio I purchased from eBay in my '03 Escalade. The install went well except for some initial weirdness after deactivating the theftlock but then the unit settled into working fine. Then my wife came home one day after using the Escalade and said the radio wasn't working. The navigation was still on but there was no audio. I drove it for a while and sure enough, the radio didn't work. I tried resetting the unit by pulling the fuse and the audio came back on and everything worked fine. My wife used it next and sure enough, the audio had gone out on her again. I reset the nav radio again and it worked fine again.

We could not figure out what was going on. My wife was not even using the radio when she drove. She hadn't touched a thing. But sure enough, the next time she used it, the audio went out again.

Then it occurred to us, could it be her keys? The only thing she was doing was using her own set of keys. I went out and reset the radio pulling the fuse but with her keys in the ignition. The audio didn't work. I then reset the radio with my keys in the ignition (we had also used the key fobs to unlock the doors before doing the resetting). When I reset the radio using my key and fob, it worked fine. When it was reset using her key and fob, the audio would not come on.

Has anyone heard of anything like this happening? When the nav radio had the theftlock deactivated, did it only recognize my key and fob now? Is there some way to fix this, like maybe the dealer reprogramming the radio so it recognizes both sets of keys and fobs?

Does the radio have anything to do with personalization on the Escalades? In other words, with the old radio did the presets change, or the station you were listening to, when you used your fob vs. your wifes? I'm just wondering if the personalization feature is throwing things off. Is this the INR (joystick) or the TNR (touchscreen)?

As far as I know, there was no radio personalization. There is seat, mirror and environmental personalization, but I don't think there was any radio preset or other radio setting personalization. Could be, I just don't know for sure. I could try to check and see. It is an INR, not a touchscreen.

My 03 Burb does have personalization on the radio depending on which key fob you use. I still don't feel like that is what is going on but I have seen stranger things

I took a closer look at what was happening when using my wife's keys and fob. It isn't just the audio that goes out. The navigation is still on but the screen is not a normal appearance (the picture is sort of "askew"). There is still no audio, but if I push the BAND button. a blank screen comes up. After a few minutes on, the FM screen does come back on but I cannot change the stations. The audio never comes back on until I reset the unit by pulling the fuse.

Everything works fine if I use my keys and fob.
