Mobil Clean 5000 oil?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering is anyone using mobil clean 5000 oil for their trucks. My truck has about 73,000 miles on it, but I notice that it kind of wants to knock once in a while. Just wondering if using this oil will cure it, or should I use some other kind of oil?

What oil do you run now? I would just stick to regular Mobil 1 if that is what your using now and just change your oil on a regular schedule. If it is the cold start knock that your talking about. It seems several have it and have high mileage on those vehicles with no problems. I have not read anywhere about a miracle cure for it.

Jaslo, as far as cure, I don't think it will cure your problem. The Mobil Clean 5000, as far as I know is a high quality dino oil with an advanced additive package, which is rated to last 5000 miles. It is a good choice of oil to use in your truck if you wish, and I don't think you would suffer any consequences of switching to the Mobil 5000, provided you have regularly serviced your truck in the past. You could try to switch to 10w-30 to see if this may help your problem. MMM

I am using Mobil Clean 5000 (10W-30) in a 2001 GMC Sierra HD2500 and in a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. Both vehicles seem to run much more quietly and smoothly. I really like the oil. I also believe that it is hard to beat at $1.92/quart for such a high quality oil. I am changing the oil and filters at 4,000 mile intervals. By the way, I use NAPA/WIX oil filters.

I have run Mobile 10W30 in my truck since new and now the past two changes have been the Mobile 5000 oil, as the standard Mobile is not available any more. I don't feel it will cure your knock, but I am very pleased with this oil. I have always had very good luck with Mobile oil in the past and feel that this oil will serve well in my truck. With 97k miles on it, she seems to be doing very well.

For the love of God. It's spelled MOBIL . I don't think I've ever seen MobilE on the shelves anywhere.

SORRY!!!

Typically, my mind runs a hell of a lot faster than my fingers (10 thumbs when it comes to a keyboard) do on a forum like this. I don't use a spell checker and I did not know that spelling perfection was a requirement. Maybe I will keep a quart next to my screen from now on!

In my past 2 trucks I have used Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil. I just got a new one. I just did my first oil change. I used Mobil Clean 5000, 5w-30. It meets the specification for my truck, GM 6094M, GF-4.

And yes, I plan to use the 5000 mile interval as suggested. MMM

I like this oil too.  Is anyone comfortable going the full 5000?

I go between 5,000 and 7,000 and regular dino oil cause my truck is smart and tells me when it is ready to be changed. Of course I normally drive sanely and keep it on the pavement.

Man all I want to know is where are you getting Mobil for 1.92 a quart. I've never seen it for any less than $4.00 a quart. I pay $20 for a 5 quard jug of mobil 1, 5w30 at Wal-Mart. That is the cheapest I've ever seen it. They sell the Mobil 5000 for $26 a 5 quart jug.

Maybe its just location in the states...I bought a full case of Mobil Clean 5000 5w-30 for 23 something plus tax at Advanced a month ago.

A case is only 6 quarts when you buy mobil and that would be about $3.30 a bottle. Still twice of what was said earlier.
