Just curious, cant be all that hard. Alot better than paying 300 bucks for one. I was thinking about modifying the factory box....but im sure I could make a whole new "performance" box and tube...what do ya'll think?

I installed a Volant system which has a flange on the bottom. Makes it easy to run a cold air hose. I also purchased a 1/2 ton scoop that I mounted to the lower valance.

Ran a piece of aircraft scat hose between the two and could not beleive the difference at speed.

When winter came (plow), I removed the lower scoop and ran the scat hose up to the bumper inlet. No noticable change in performance without the scoop!

I modified my stock airbox (cut the entire end off that leads into the fender and opened up a small area on the side toward the headlights), added a K&N filter for ~$50 (just because I like to be able to wash and re-use), and just put on an Airaid MIT for $95 shipped from Byunspeed.com (tube from the stock airbox to TB). I have got around $150 in the setup. I'm sure a true cold air system could flow more air but I was not willing to shell out the $$. It seems to work very well (there was a definite volume difference which hopefully means more air is getting in) and cleaned up under the hood by removing the stock tube with silencer tube on it.

Good luck!
