Swapping Steering Wheel

I got a steering wheel with controls, and an Escalade gauge cluster with full DIC functions.. Only thing I am missing is the dual stage ABS Coil Pack... Does anyone have instructions on how to perform this upgrade. The part that scares me the most is pulling the airbag out. What is the proper way to ensure that I do not end up with a broken nose?

disconnect the battery for at least 15 min before removing the airbag. I would wait 20 though

make sure you pull the fuse and aslo unplug the air bag connection under the drivers seat and behind the glove box.

I did this to my 05 1500 crew cab a couple weeks ago, although I kept my own cluster and had the IPC reflashed.

 

Take your time on the clock spring harness. It probably took me 2 hours from start to finish.

 

Not sure what truck you have, but the clockspring harness that I bought (26101829 for a 2 stage airbag) also had the 8 pin quadrasteer plug and a bright green 2 pole plug with a green and black wire. Apparently GM has tried to simplify things by reducing the number of part numbers available. Anyway, if you have the same clockspring I do and don't have quadrasteer on your truck you can just tape it to the steering column.

 

Not sure if you know it or not but your radio buttons won't work until you get the correct TBC codes for your truck. Unfortunatly they VIN based codes so mine won't help you.
