Drop in MPG???

My last fill up I checked my mpg I hit an all time low of 9.6MPG , no towing, no hard acceleration, just driving to and from work mostly. Has anybody else noticed this??? I also noticed my truck has developed some spark knock if I am heavy on the throttle.... I am thinking oil companies have changed the gas mixture????

Your mafs is dirty!!!! Two symptoms of a dirty mass air flow sensor are poor gas mileage and pinging!!! Poor idle and erratic transmission shifting are a couple of others.

 

When using an oiled filter like the K&N, cleaning at every or at least every other oil change is recommended. Once a year cleaning should be done even with a non oiled filter!

The truck just cleared 9000 miles... how could it be a Mass air flow sensor???

What is the best way to clean the MAFS? Is that the sensor in the intake tube just upstream from the air filter?

 

BTW, Ive seen my mileage drop too. I used to get solid 13 with a 6.0 CC 4WD, now Im down in the 10-12 range, usually on the lower end of the scale.

I've only checked my gas milage once so far, and im at 12mpg... Keep in mind I only have a 2x4 and the tailgates been off for the last 3 weeks just for that reason. and im just starting to drive the truck normal, i used to baby the s**t out of it, to the point that when i did step on it (if i had to) it would blow some carbon out (like a little old lady). Something must be dirty... Cause 40,000miles and im sure no one else ever cleaned anything.

 

Is there a list of things I should check on a truck with 40000?

like:

-mafs

-clean throttlebody

-etc?
