Lug Nuts

Question kinda sums it up. After all my recent tire drama, the shop that was balancing my tires rounded-off my wheel nuts & having rounded nuts is a bad thing IMO . SO, after I get some new ones, which size wrench (more specifically socket) are you guys using? Any particular brand/type that seems to get a real good bite?

I use a 22mm 6pt socket and 1/2" breaker bar.

 

The more pts the socket has the more likely it is to slip and round off the nuts.

 

The socket doesn't cost much so don't go cheap and buy off brand garbage. Get a Snap-on,Craftsman,ect.

I've already got the Craftsman 1/2" breaker - so I'm set there. Just need set of 6 point sockets.

If you can, get an impact rated socket. . . although they are a bit more expensive, they are better suited for the task.

Dont know how often you are going to be changing the lug nuts, but driving awrecker I can tell you that one of the best tools I have for lug nut removal is a 4 way lug wrench that is all one forged piece, the 2 piece ones that are tack welded together dont last, and I have broken sockets useing a breker bar before. Just my 2c

Where can I get a one-piece 4 way wrench? The only ones I've ever seen are the cheapo tack weld jobbies....
