reverse light power from bcm green wire

Hi can anyone tell me in my 05 Z71 cc what the green wire on the right side of the bcm feeds besides the reverse lights, the reason I am asking is that is I have my reverse camera trigger wire connected there as per instructions, the problem is I want to connect a switch to power the camera & interface so I can turn it on driving down the road ect along with it being able to come on when the truck is shifted into reverse, I can add a diode so as to not feed back to the bcm if needed but need to know what else might be connected besides the backup lights,

thanks Bob

If you have the auto-dimming electrochromatic inside rear view mirror, that is fed off the reverse circuit from the BCM. I don't see it going to the sideview mirrors if those are of the dimming type. The BCM probably just send a message over the data line to the door modules for those.

Hi thanks for the reply GM-Tech, I do have the dimming rear view mirror, why would the reverse circuit feed the rear view mirror unless it turns off the dimming feature to see behind you better while backing up, I also have the auto dimming mirror on the driver side but that is not electric it has some sort of green fluid between the mirror & a thin plate of glass that changes when light hits it, I know this because I cracked the glass installing a spot mirror so I had to replace the mirror, this glass is very fragile, do you see any problem energizing the reverse light circuit while driving down the road 60 mph for a short period of time out side of the fact the backup lights will come on, also should I protect the bcm with a diode so as to not backfeed the bcm or will it bother anything,

thanksBob

Exactly the reason. And the side view mirrors are dimmed electrically. If you cover the light sensor in the dash during daylight, you'll see the side view mirror dim. It has nothing to do with light striking it.

I would put a diode in your added circuit. Probably nothing disasterous would happen if you don't, but it would be the right way to do it.
