oil analysis

So where does everyone get their oil analysis done? There a lot of diffrent companies out there that offer the service.

I am intrested to know the cost, turn around time and features to compare. This could help a lot of people out, and maybe a few of us would change venders if we knew what they are offering.

I'm about to use Blackstone Labs out of Fort Wayne, Indiana for the first time.

I'll report back on the CS.

I use BlackStone Lab's as well. They have a great turnaround time. I have mailed out my oil sample on Monday and they e-mailed me the results by Wed already. It just depends on how busy they are but I usually get the results with a weeks time frame.

Price is $20 for a standard oil analysis. To get a TBN, total base number, which is the additive package that is in the oil and tells you the life of the oil is an extra $10. They will send you the sample bottles for free. You don't pay for the analysis untill you send in the oil sample.

I also have Terry Dyson to a separate reading of the analysis that BlackStone burns. He is separate from BlackStone but works with them. So if you want to have him do a detailed reading of your sample it is an extra $10 or a total of $40 for the works. Not cheap but Terry knows his stuff and has really helped me in tailoring my oil so that I get the max life out of it.

I could just use Oil Analyzers which is associated with AMSOIL for a total cost of $19, but I feel better about going to a third party.

Terry is really good and has been in the buisness for more than 25 years and is prior Army. :chevy:
