Phantom Dash Lights???? HELP

Recommended Posts

The last month or so I have noticed the high beam indicator light is on in my truck. Not on bright, just kind of dim but it is obvious. The security indicator (little padlock looking thing) is also on as well as the parking brake light all real faint. Just enough were you can see them.

Really don't wanna take it to the dealer if there is a simple fix for this. Don't drive it at all 'cept when it is time to go camping. With this, it sits for 15-30 days at a time. The 496 is a little too thristy for a daily driver. I however do go out and fire it up and back it out. Also cycle the transfer case, a/c, all the stuff basically to keep it fresh. Truck is brand new still (to me) with 13,800 miles on it. Any help would be dandy.

Electrical problems suck. Even after you get them "fixed" they can often reappear because they fix what broke, not what caused it. Several years ago I had a Ford (I know what was I thinking) car that kept blowing the on board computer. It was like clock work about every 15,000 miles. The dealer replaced it at 15K, 31K, 47K but then refused to replace it at 62k because the warrenty ended at 60k. I had kept telling them they were not fixing the real problem and that the computer shouldn't be melting down every 15k miles but they ignored me. I ened up having to eat the $300+ to "fix" it again. I complained to the regional Ford rep . . . nothing. Needless to say I did not, have not bought another Ford again.

Anyway, my point is I would get a record of the problem recorded on your vehicles log with the dealer. I have had much better luck dealing with dealers when I have a record of a history of problems. If the problem reappears over and over you have somethying to use to get them to fix it even after warrenty ends.

Electrical problems suck. I would log it with the dealer.
