Wiper Motor

I have a 1997 Tahoe, two different times in the past week, when I turn my wipers on they wont work, I just hear a grind or growl kind of noise. My rear wiper works fine, its just the front. Is the motor going bad, or could it be a loose wire, or something else? Thanks

I believe that the '97 was covered in a recall. You should just call your local dealer and they'll tell you.

It's a circuit board in the wiper motor that goes bad. Some solder comes loose. Sometimes you can fix it yourself, sometimes not. Pretty easy fix though.

I will call the dealer today, but I dont hold much hope that they will want to fix it.

They shouldn't care. If it's a recall (and I'm about 99% sure it is), it won't cost them a dime. IIRC, GM pays for it, not the dealer.

I wouldn't actually call them, I'd show up at the dealer...They're less likely to tell you no if you're in their face. :flag:

I had the same problem with my 97, they would work sometimes and sometimes you could just hear it tryin, and sometimes it would go if you helped it. I am the second owner and im guessing it never made it in for the recall. Its a quick job i think it took me about 25-30 mins, the motor (reman) is about 60 bucks at advance. My uncle is havin the same prob with his 95, looks like ill be puttin another one in here soon.

JERRY.........Don't bother asking the dealer about a recall..........

Call the Chevy 800 number and have your VIN# handy. They

will tell you if your vehicle is involved in the recall and give

you a campaign #......................geo
