Non-lux Nav in non Bose truck

I just bought a non-lux TNR for my 2004 Chevy 2500 LS. My truck does not have Bose. I am not 100% sure on the part number of the NAV unit I bought but was curios to know if anyone has added one of these to a Non-bose truck. My truck currently has the cd/casette combo.

I have a non-lux INR (non-touch screen) navigation unit in my '03 S-10 pickup. My truck is not only non-Bose, it is COMPLETELY devoid of any sort of amplifier, and maybe yours is too.

The sound quality is just fine, but the unit is designed to work with *some* sort of amp. I don't have much bass, even though the bass is completely cranked up on the radio. That's really the only side effect. With a non-lux navigation radio, you have the option of wiring in a factory non-lux Bose or Monsoon amp or you can install an aftermarket amp. I am going to swap in a non-lux Bose amp next year probably, but I'm not a hardcore audiophile so I'm not stressed about the lack of bass.

Monsoon amp? What is that? Guess I will look for an aftermarket amp. Do I have to rewire the speakers? My speakers I think will work just fine if only 1 wire is running to them? Kinda seemed odd when I hooked up an amp and sub a while back and I notcied that.

Monsoon is just a marketing name for a fancy Delphi amp. It was an option on several GM vehicles. I think the F-bodies got them.

Tamale, you don't have to touch the wires going to your speakers. Whether you do a Bose amp or aftermarket, you can get a "T" connector that goes inline between your radio and the factory radio plug, and has speaker wires that lead off it to go to an amp. Thats what I plan to do with my truck.

First part is correct - for the truck Navigation units, they ALL say "Sound by BOSE" when they boot up, and are designed to work with a Bose amp. But ONLY the "Lux" nav system absolutely HAS to work with a Bose Lux amp, etc. The Non-Lux system still needs to be amped because it doesn't put out much power, but it doesn't matter what you use for an amp or speakers. It can be aftermarket if you want.
