Problems, Problems, Problems...

So this weekend I happened to notice brake fluid all along the inside driver rear wheel well...fluid is leaking like crazy out of the drum.  Ok so we probably have a bad caliper.  Then the truck decides it wants to take a couple seconds to shift into gear after putting it in reverse....then we have this awful noise (pulley's I'm thinking) where the fan belts are.

I swear, when one thing happens, it all happens.  This isn't good considering the 83 Stepside is getting warranty work, the 73 Dodge blew a main seal and the tBird needs a new engine....all these cars and none of them run!

On a happy note:

I went and test drove a 00 Silverado "Rosewood edition"? truck this weekend....oh this was sooo sweet...Dark Metallic Green, truck bed cover (that lifts up like the hood of a car), Flowmasters, wood grain kit, leather and only 9,000 miles! Dealer wanted $26,500 for it....but I can't afford a $500 month car payment right now :D

So what is this "Rosewood Edition" or whatever it's called (I forgot)?  What is so special about it (besides the leather seats having the symbol engraved in them, and the wood grain dash kit)?

Just a guess but the "rosewood" is probably just a customizing shop that added leather seats w/ the logo, dash kit, etc...  My uncle used to have a "starcraft" suburban which had Starcraft on all the seats, full leather front to back and a TV/VCR, plus a few other nice things.

Sorry to hear about the rest of your vehicle troubles.  Sell them all and buy the silverado, it's all you'll ever need :D

So what is this "Rosewood Edition

dealer scam

add somethings then put a big price tag on it

These guys are right.  It is an aftermarket conversion.  I have never heard of an official "rosewood edition" vehicle from GM.

You could probably get a better price on an "LT" model Chevy Silverado, and still get all the nice things like heated leather etc...  for less money.

hmm thanks guys.  Yeah I had never heard of this edition either.  They even put a little "Rosewood Edition" badging plate by the driver door on the outside of the vehicle.  I wasn't sure if it was something like, Ford has the Eddie Bauer edition etc...

Our 97 silverado is great....as soon as we get the bugs out.  Thank goodness we bought the bumper to bumper extended warranty.  3 year, 36K miles :D

come to find out the whole rear end is pretty shot.  I guess the brake problems have been a long going thing with this truck.  Supposedly everything is corroded from all the fluid etc...must have been "cleaned up' at one point because you don't see the wet fluid when you look under the truck.  I guess all the hardware, shocks, etc have to be replaced....and the bumper to bumper that the truck lot said we bought....is not a bumper to bumper warranty.....

This is NOT looking good

I smell something fishy here.  What is the dealer trying to tell you?

Posted

Yeah the dealer says it's a 3 year, 36K mile bumper to bumper warranty, everything will be covered.  We call the insurance company today, and they tell us something completely different.  They tell us we didn't buy what the dealer told us we bought.  my b/f is taking a bunch of pics of the truck as my mech. tears it apart for reference.  This is becoming a total  safety issue that should have been taken care of before the vehicle was bought.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Here's a little update:

We call the dealer last night and tell him everything that's wrong with the truck.  We tell him that the insurance company says none of it's covered (the are only paying for calipers and some labor).  The dealer says the warranty should cover everything as we have the "delux" warranty, top of the line blah blah blah....so the dealer is calling the insurance company today and then calling my mechanic.  We'll see how that goes.  That's only one problem though..we still have to work our way to the front of the truck....

more updates to come for those who are interested :D

Well lets hope the dealer sticks to his word and calls the insurance company, so that this issue gets resolved and you can get your truck back. :D Keep us posted.

Yeah unfortunately thought, since it's a 97 we bought it used (as is no warranty - we had to buy a separate warranty), the Lemon Law is for new vehicles and it has to go back for the same problem 4+ times.  It will be a good truck as soon as we get everything fixed!
