05 Avalance LT 4x5, Service 4WD, Stabilitrack

Looking for opinions...

I bought the truck new, 30 miles on it. It's an LT 4x4 (not 4x5) 5.3L.

At around 9000 miles, the Service 4WD message came on. I know it was common to the older GMT800 platform, with faulty switches, but, not sure about this late in the game... so, I called the selling dealership, setup an appt.

Visit 1: Reprogrammed the computer, also suggested it may be the front axle encoder... ordered parts.

...leaving from Visit 1, Service 4WD message came on again.

Visit 2: Prior to this visit, the Service 4WD message still persisted, but, now the Stabilitrack Sys Disabled message shows, and the button is non-responsive... and the 4 buttons on the 4WD panel no longer illuminate.. Dealer says it's probably the encoder, parts still on order.

Prepping for visit 3: Now, when I start the truck, "Service 4WD", "Stabilitrack Sys Disabled" alternate on the display, and, the 4WD panel shows a red light that my transfer case is in neutral (even though it's actaully in 2WD, and drives fine).

I'm guessing I have a bad computer somewhere, and that's why I see this. Anyone else see this on their vehicle? Any techs see a customer with this problem?

Open to suggestions at this point.

This definitely sounds like the encoder motor sensor. Shouldn't take that long to get one though. I just did one here and ordered one day and had it the next.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but man GM-Tech you actually had a four-wheel drive down there? I didn't think there were any 4x4's down there!
