Engine pre-lube system

Has anyone installed a pre-lube system? Theres been much talk how an engine works the hardest during the first 30 seconds of a startup. An oil pre-lube will circulate the crankcase oil and bring up to oil pressure before you start your truck. I don't know if it's worth the $300 or so cost. Any thoughts?

Sounds great, right?

But with today's oils and their ability to maintain a thin layer on metal surfaces even with the engine off for several days, there really isn't a need.

There are several of us here who have old vehicles, work trucks / cars, that have waaaay over 100,000 miles on them and have no issues associated with oil wear.

Now, if this was the 1960s, when even the most premium-rated oil was probably worse than today's cheapest and lowest rated oil, then I'd say an oiler would be a good investment. Combine the technology of then, with the leaded gasoine we used.... bleh!

It is amazing to me that the muscle cars that we drove back even ran good enough to excite the police. :shakehead: "Oh, the things my parents don't know, even today, of what we did back then." brrrrrr
