I'm a new truck owner, just since Aug. The old car was an '86 Jetta, so I'm finding just replacing burnt-out bulbs to be much more complicated now....

(I love my truck anyhow!)

My current problem is in the rear cab-top brake light...I have the replacement bulb, I've gotten the screws out, but can't get the plastic cover off.

I assumed,at first, that it was just stuck, but after putting 2-3 nasty little nicks in my paint job, I quit trying to pry it up. Is there a clip or something else holding it down, other than the screws? Help!

Well there should only be 2 allen head screws holding that plastic lens on there. There is a O-Ring that goes around the lens to keep moisture from going into the housing. Mine has popped off easily before but I find it weird that yours wont. Is your truck a extended cab or regular cab?

There isn't any secret or anything else holding it on, but it might be just stuck. You should try tapping it with something soft, like the rubber handle end of a hammer or etc.
