Code Reader / Data logger / Laptop

I was going to buy the standard code reader from autozone, but I have found several on ebay that do more and will connect to my laptop and cost less or around the same. Can anyone suggest a good one under 200 dollars???? I also want to be able to use it on my wife's car, family's vechicles, etc. to help them out with their diag problems. Thanks

I haven't used either of these programs, but the 2nd one linked seemed very inexpensive. The only downside I see is that you need to have access to a serial port on your laptop. Not too many laptops have serial ports these days. Of course, there was a note that you *could* try to use a serial to USB adapter but that is more time, money and potentially false hope.

The 1st one was almost double in price, but had the USB adapter built-into the unit.
