DIC says "Service Brake System"

Truck is an 03 2500HD LT 2WD XC

Once last winter and again twice in the last month I had ABS and Brake warning lamps, plus DIC message "Service Brake System" or words to that effect. On restarting the truck at the end of the trip, the warning was gone. In all three cases it was during cold weather with some salty slop on the road, so I suspect wet or frozen ABS sensor.

Any ideas? Safe to ignore? Truck is out of warranty, so I don't want a goofus tech to just throw parts at a non-reproducable problem.

just had my truck in for the same thing. they said its happening alot right bow because of the cold or something. the service writer said it wasnt anything to worry about and i think all they did was clean off the sensors or something

If this message comes on right after start up, there's an updated calibration for the EBCM that corrects this.

This mostly affects diesel trucks.

my truck does the same thing, you'll start it and the ABS and Service Brake light come on in the dash plus the DIC says the same message. Mine is a 03' 2500 hd 6.0 however anyways thanks for the tip, i gotta bring it in for the infamous clunk in the steering and ill have them address this too.
