Wheel/Tires combo

I have a 1999 Silverado Sportside 2WD with 17” Avalanche wheels at 265X70X17 Michelin tires.

The truck is a daily driver with some spirited driving.

It has been modified to add about 30+ horsepower to it.

The truck rides very with this combo and no weight in the rear. I cannot drive this truck hard or accelerate briskly due to the tire/weight combo. It breaks traction easy and does not corner well plus wet weather traction is questionable.

I was thinking of buy some 20” wheels and tires and looked at the GM site where I was advised to buy a “GM Validated” wheel and tire combo.

Will these wheels fit my 1999 Silverado?

Do I really have to use the Goodyear LS tires? Most tire reviews rate them poorly in traction and performance plus they are only S rated.

Is this combo suggested to keep the ride quality on par with stock?

What other performance tire can you recommend without sacrificing ride quality?

Any suggestion would be helpful.

Thanks

MAIN problem is the Goodye*r tires, they are the worst tires for wet traction after about 12-18k and not much for dry, Get you some Dueler HL's 265's or some other good brand name tire.

The reason I say Dueler HL's is from experience, Best tire I've owened, I had the Goodye*r ST's (Bar ditch ST) and did the death grip every time it rained.
