Anyone try Bosch Icon wipers? Other suggestions?

I was looking at the new Bosch Icon wipers and they look like they might be a better replacement choice. I currently use Bosch standard wipers, but am tired of replacing them every 3 months. They work great for 3 months though. Any other brand suggestions or experiences?

So far, the wipers I have liked best are the ones that originally came with my truck new. With previous vehicles, I have bought cheap and expensive wiperblades. They all didn't last very long, and they would miss spots on the windshield. I think I might go back to the dealer to see who makes the ones the use on the lot.

I put some sort of Bosch wipers (over $30 for the pair) on my wifes van. So far they have been the best wipers we have tried and are better than the factory ones. I don't remember which model they are, but they came in a silver and black box, with some gold colored trim (I think).

I put Trico Exact Fit wipers on my Denali about 5 mos. ago and they are far better than the stock wipers. Most after-market wipers I've purchased in the past have been mediocre at best but I am really pleased with the Trico. The Exact Fit have a 90 day replacement warranty and the Trico Teflon have a 1 one year warranty.

I found Bosch wipers to be very bad and not worth the $$$. I also find that the fire deicer windshield cleaner stuff seems to lessen the life of any wiper blade. I am currently running some michelin blades from walmart. So far these are the best I have found. Pretty reasonable at like $8 a piece

I installed PIAA silicone blades on my truck in April of 04, and so far they're holding up well. I liked them so much that I got them for my wife's Matrix and my mother's Solara (a few weeks after I did mine). My wife's look like they're just about ready for replacement...but a year and a half isn't bad for wipers IMO.

The Icons seem to be a pretty good blade (for $20 a blade). I work at advance and I was looking at the specs on them and they definately seem worth trying. I have used tricos and now trico teflon, not a fan of the regular tricos though. Teflons worked great until then unfortunate incident when I left the wipers on the night before and when I started it up the next morning, I watch as the jerked themselves out of the ice, yet they still don't work bad. I think im gonna get a set of icons tonite when I go into work. Ill let you know how they do.

I put SSP Silblades on my 94 Jimmy. Those wipers lasted almost FIVE YEARS and they were still good. The only complaint I had with them was that the frame pivots iced up terribly in the winter. One of them is still kicking around on my dad's Durango (rear wiper is the same length as the fronts on the 94 Jimmy). Bought them for my S-10 when I got it, they're probably still on it, but they were only a little over a year old when I sold the truck.

The GP has some sort of frameless wiper on it. It works well and the only place I have to worry about icing is at the pivot where the blade mounts to the arm.

I too have been trying to find the 'ultimate' blade. I've tried the 'triple' blade type, teflon, and silicone. Every blade I've come across would eventually chatter with dry wipes, wind gusts, etc. I did find if you clean the blade each month with alcohol, the blade would still work well.

Personally, I'm coming to realise it's all sizzle. Spend less money for multiple blade changes rather than spending a lot more with the same change intervals.

Slemmer, Did you try the SSP Silblades? I'm not trying to sell them because I have an interest in it -you might be able to say I used to, my dad worked with the guys that make them and then for the company that supplies the product when the guys started the business- but I know they work. In the 4 years I had them on my first truck, never a chatter from the front blades. They always wiped well, unless there was ice on the frame pivots. I paid nothing for that first set, my dad got them when he was at the factory (30 mins from my house) for business.

I paid for the second set, they also worked well, but I had issues with the attachment clips. I went to the offices, they gave me 2 packs of the clip assortment as it would be in the wiper package. The blades carry a 5 year warranty also. Check out the site, www.sspinc.com Remember, I don't work for them or own any part of the business, just a pleased customer.

The blades I put on the wifes van were the Bosch Excel MicroEdge. She is very happy with them, and still comments about how nice they work. They have only been on there about a month, so we'll have to wait and see how long they last...

The point of failure on nearly all blades is going to be the rubber vs. the blade itself. 303 Products makes a wiper treatment to extend the life of the rubber compound. I have not tried it but use the 303 Aerospace UV treatment on all of my interior plastic and trim. It works great. Alcohol may clean off dirt improving short-term performance but will not condition the rubber. It may actually break it down faster.
