Mods on my 05 Sierra Z71

So far this is what I've done:

Flowmaster Delta 70 Ser.

K&N Cold Air Intake

Granatelli Mass Air Flow Sensor

Granatelli 0 ohm Performance Spark Plug Wires

Diablo Sport Predator Tuner

She runs real good. Still need to adjust the idle a little. She vibrates a little when stopped at a light and in drive. The tuner will allow me to adjust that, just want to get some tech. advice from Diablo before I make the adjustment.

I think the only thing left to do is an Air Raid Throttle Body Spacer. It will give me a little more torque.

Does anyone have a similar set up?

Dont waste your money on the spacer. They arent as great as you think they are. What all have you changed with the Pred?

I just installed the performance tune that it comes with. I plan on contacting them to get a custom tune. I understand that they customize it based on the upgrades I've already installed.

Try a Crankshaft Variation Relearn to smooth the idle first. I fix that all the time. You'll have to use a professional scan/diagnostic tool to access the program.

Where should I be idling? As I mentioned before, the truck vibrates when in drive stopped at a light ( foot on brake). It seemed to start after I put the exhaust on, which was the first item I installed.

The installers of the exhaust say the Flowmaster has nothing to do with it.

Where can I get that type of "relearn" done?

Check under the truck really well while someone holds the brakes in drive to make sure it's not your new exhaust vibrating the chassis. If it doesn't then you can take the truck to a dealer but I would find a competent independent garage who does emissions and computer type repair work like mine. Don't pay more than $50 anywhere. A Napa Autocare should be able to handle it.

Outsource, head on over to ls1tech.com and search crank relearn.. It will take you a while to read all the info, but it will shed light on the crank relearn deal :)

TB spacers and their ilk are a joke. Just a way of fooling people who don't know the difference between a carbed engine and an fuel injected engine. Trust me, that will not give you any more torque. It will however make your intake whistle.

Some of your current mods are pretty useless too. the spark plugs and the MAF swap really didn't need to happen, and gave you no gains. The less said about the other two the better.

Get a custom tune if you're tuning anything. Mail order tunes like Wait4me and Nelson are also pretty good.

I know it's been a while, but I just got back from the dealer. They did the Crank re-learn and it didn't fix a thing. The truck stills idles low and vibrates when in drive and the foot on the brake.

To start off with, the service writer had never heard of the crank re-learn. That made me feel good :( He had to call his "super-mechanic" I guess who came out with an attitude like "who told you that would fix your problem?"

He pulled out his Tech 2 diagnostic tuner thing and did the re-learn. Nothing. I asked the service writer if there was anything that could be done to adjust the idle and he said "nope, that's the way they are".

Then I told him that I would be coming back to get the popping noise in my front end fixed, and he said there's no fix, and a recall will be coming out. I asked if he knew about the issue with the transmission getting stuck in 2nd gear while at a light and then slamming into 1st when you step on the gas, and he said "never heard of it"

I gotta tell you guys, I've just about had it with this Sierra. I'm really disappointed, not only with the vehicle and all it's problems but with the service department and not 1 but 2 different dealerships. These guys don't know crap!

Somebody tell me something!!!!! :D:chevy::chevy::fume::fume:

I would start by taking that

Granatelli Mass Air Flow Sensor off.

The factory MAF will flow more than needed. Its good for up to 8L. Probably where your problem is.

I bet that's the problem also.

Definitely try going back to the stock MAF first (disconnect your negative cable while you work). If that does not get rid of it, consider switching to the Taylor Thundervolt spark plug wires (one of my first mods on my current truck), which smoothed the idle significantly (even in a brand new '06). The Taylors are the wires everyone at Z71Tahoe-Suburban.com forum seems to have had the most luck with for smoothing the idle.

Another easy thing to try is a top-end cleaning (before your next oil change), or maybe even a can of SeaFoam in your next gas tank fill-up to clean up your fuel system a bit. I run a can of SeaFoam every 4-5 tanks (in all of our cars) to keep carbon deposits at bay.

My idle, by the way, is a little below 500 once warmed up, maybe 700 cold.
