So i feel like a should make mention of some recent experiences at a dealership i had. I live in a small town and we have 2 chevy dealerships in a 70 mile area. The dealer i went to i was never harrased while browsing the lot. (i liked this) instead after browsing the lot the eventual salesman spoke up and called me by my first name having met me 1 year prior. (i was overally impressed he remebered me).

We began talking and i tell him what i wanted so he pulls the invoices and lays them on the table to shows me the actual price to them the dealer. This was not at the time of the dealer incentives but a month after. I explain that altough they peaked my interest it's to far from budget. He then makes a phone call to Hertz and comes up with an offer of 21,000 for an 05 ext cab, 5.3, 4x4. with 17,000 So in the end i buy.

 

Now christmas week i receive a christmas card in the mail from the salesman. He also calls me just to make sure everything is suitable for my like's and any concerns i may have. Yesterday i took the truck to have a seal replaced under warrranty and they immediately offered me a loaner while a waited the 1 hour it took to fix the truck. He also brings me a cup of coffee and trys to make me feel at home. I have never had a positive experience before at a dealer and this was the first. Throughout the whole process there was never pressure to buy and they treated me right. Even after the sale they have done verything possible to keep me happy. I also bought some aftermarket accessories and the salesman went out with the mechanic and installed them for no charge. The salesman was straight forward honest and pleasurable to deal with. The dealer is HEDLUND Chevrolet in Tonasket Washington. It's not very often a service dept gets praise but i felt it was do :cheers:

Sounds like my dealer, Watkins Chevrolet in Boswell Pennsylvania. They always send Christmas and birthday cards and are a very low pressure dealership. They always have the best price around and service is second to none. :cheers:

Wow, small world! I was born and raised in Tonasket and I bought new 1978 Z28 & a new 1980 Z28 from Hedlunds. They were great back then, and sounds like they still are. :cheers:

Well i was inplanted here in Oroville, due to work but hey we all have to make sacrafises. Yup couldnt be happier with the quality of service they have shown.

wish we had dealers like that here. they cant wait to get you in a car and out the door. I had a guy that i told i didnt want to spend more than 12000....and he comes to me wanting to sell me a brand new for 22000. i was like, did you not hear me? i hate the big dealers around here. you have to go to the smaller towns to get a little better service.

Sounds like my area....I went to our big dealer here in town and told them what I wanted.....which is whats in my sig....and he tried to sell me a silver Z71..no thanx.....went to a dealer in a small rural area...Lester Chevrolet in Central City, Kentucky....they were awesome...cut me a hell of a deal...gave quite a bit for my trade...and they were even gonna buy my ATV off of me if i hadnt sold it....Ill always go back....they're helpful...they order parts for me....at their cost...and NEVER pressured anything...

      The guy that owns K&P filters last I checked in with him has over 300,000 miles on his Dodge base Hemi using his own 35 micron absolute stainless mesh filter from its first oil change.    The GM study I've posted a dozen times shows the relationship in engine life based in multiples of base units, not miles or years. That is the base unit is the number of miles the motor ran using the reference filter efficiency.    The above two paragraphs dismantle anecdotal arguments IF one changes oil often enough to prevent particle formation and the motor is in otherwise good shape. That is not full of silica (no air filter) or suffering a metallurgical issue that is not part of the lubrication discussion. Poor heat treat in example.   Data from UOA's I've reviewed from more than a few engines can show remarkably broad variations in oil cleanliness using the exact same filter over the course of an engines life.     Lastly there is the common sense of it. Wear debris WILL circulate the engine BEFORE it ever sees a filter in route to that filter and WILL harm the pump which NEVER sees filtered oil.    Alpha question then becomes, given the facts, how long do you believe is a reasonable service life from a vehicle you are certain you will not pass down? That is the junk yard will be it's resting place when you're done with it? (the moral issue most don't care about).    Omega question is then how diligent are you prepared to be in general mechanical, air & oil maintenance? Preventing particulates and keeping them sufficiently dilute; preventing the precursors from generation, amalgamation and precipitation.    If I get a good look at the engine bay of a vehicle I have a fair idea of the owners commitment to the inside of the power train. That 30 micron WIX is still more efficient than a sieve.

      It also depends on what criteria someone is using for “best” when talking filters.  Are we going off best efficiency?   Best quality/QC?  Etc. because the two may not mutually exclusive.

      I'd guess that it's because they are Mann-Hummel filters since about 2016, they own Wix and are mostly all made in China now.
