NEED MORE POWER

I have lost some major power from lift and tires and now since that is all done I want to max my power out in that engine if anyone has any ideas i would like to hear them i have looked at the SuperChips programmers and all the way to supercharges, and the lift and 37" tires feels like a lost of anywear to 40 horse and 40 torque but i am trying to get them both up there in the high numbers with out doing major work to the engine. thanks

Well the good news is you don't need to do any engine work. You will though have to do some gear work. Like 4.56 gears for the front and back. And a custom tune from some of the sponsors to your left will fix ya up. Don't do a superchips or hypertech. You can get 10 times more improvement with a custom tune from those guys.

Welcome

what do you mean by a Custom tune? and what guys? thanks for the info, i thought about doing gears and checked some prices out and it ranged from $2000 to $5000 i was first trying to go with something a little cheaper to see how it went and if helped at all, thanks

Find someone else to price gear installs. Something around $900-1750 is what I got guoted around here and mines a 3/4 ton. And yes gears is what you need, all the power that small block could put out isn't going to spin all that tire fast enough for you without leverage.

All that stuff are good idea's, the taller gear is a must do project... Super chips or hypertech both good programmers along with a good flowing cat back exhaust will help make power and torque as well. I put a Zoomers exhaust on my avalanche 5.3l dynoed before and after and got 17.5 hp and 18 ft lbs. Awsome sounding too with no drone in the cab... Check it out

Hey no prob!

I had to shop around a bit, 2 places quoted $2000 and then i found a shop that ONLY does rear end work. They did a great job. When i went back to one of the shops that quoted 2K and informed them that i could find it 1/2 the price somewhere else, they tried to meet the price, but sorry, I dont play that game.

YOu definately need some lower gears, shop around and check the gear charts to put your RPM's back up in the power band, at least 4.56!

with 37" tires and a stock gear, you're asking for trans trouble. i never understand the idea of lifting a truck and putting on big tires just for looks. you certainly didn't gain much other than that because a 325" engine isn't going to turn that tire with a stock gear off road. that's one heavy getting stuck machine off road.

well first you won't have trans problem that why when just driving around you just use 3rd even on a plan jane one you should do that it is just better for all the trans on them and they aren't just for looks, i just lifted it and that is why i am asking for ways to make more power and all that stuff, i know i will probably do a 4.56 gear change in it and then final if you actually do the math they aren't 325's and they are 327's, thanks for your inputs

really, i didn't know that i had a 99 and it was a 327, my bad, well i guess you learn something new each day,lol thanks for the info

if you had a 99' with a 327 in it, someone put it in there other than GM. alot of magazine's have published it as a 327 because they assumed that's the cubic inch it was made. for years the LS1 was published as being a 350 and it's only a 346.
