Hey guys, long time no see, ive been a little busy, but anyways.....i was backing out of the grocery store saturday and as i was back the truck came out of reverse, i check the gear, truck said i was in it, so i rolled on back, and i put the truck in drive, and i noticed it was less powerful, so i figured out when i had put the truck in drive it was skipping 1st and taking off in second, so i countined to drive, figured out the truck wasn't coming out of 2, so i drove on to my destination (bout a mile down the road...) and i stopped, turned the truck off, stared back and the truck went in to reverse, although the SES light was on, so i take off up the road and truck finally started shiftin like normal....so i get in it this morning, SES light on, no other problems, stop by my friends house and started back ,no SES light and everything has been normal this evening...Any body got any ideas to help me as to what the problem is.....

I too had some trouble, when moving in neutral my truck would hop in and out of gear-- the selector was still showing "n"-- seemed to be worse if I put a few revs to it... also found it not wanting to fire when starting-- did it to me a few times

took into the dealer to see what the codes were saying-- turns out it was a broken crank sensor-- that had gone intermittent, the tech that worked on it said it was a good thing that I brought it in... it was about to break off, which would have ment pulling the motor to get the broken part out-- I guess the 8.1 oil pan will not come off with out moving the whole motor... just thought I would share my experience...

I have not had a bit of trouble since... knock on wood!!

Sounds like an NSBU switch, they are fairly common, there is a redesigned one available. If you do not replace it I gaurantee that it will happen again, and it could leave you stranded. It is covered under the emmisions warranty which is 8 years 80 k miles.
