I was listening to Rush this afternoon and he made the comment that Bush pretty much told GM and Ford not to look to the feds for help in their pension issues. They made their bed now they can sleep in it.

I heard that too and I thought it was ironic that the auto makers would want the gov't to bail them out when the gov't is partly to blame for the problems they're having.

I think the GM CEO's need to give up their bonuses. One CEO earned $4 million just in a bonus, who knows about the other divisions.

Remember, this isn't a cash $4.8 billion, merely a projection of expected income. Just a report with a graph on it.

I would recommend resigning or being fired. Bonuses? Although they probably have a golden parachute that would cost more than keeping them would.

Unfortunately, our government resembles the train wreck that big business has become today.

They want cuts for others, but not for themselves. They are all for the greater good, as long as it doesn't effect themselves.

Pretty selfish if you ask me, when one outweights the greater good of everyone involved.

Just my two cents.

Oh yes.

Bush says you’re on your own, but in the meantime we’ll ( the gov) continue to make it harder and harder for you to be competitive. So, US policy is one reason US automakers are taking it up the arse… China charges the US a 25% tariff on inbound vehicles, and we, being the great deal makers, will impose a 2% tariff on their line of autos expected to sell here next year. I know it’s so MUCH larger than just this lame example, but how can American automakers compete when the Gov agrees on deals that make it easy for imports to sell here and crush US market share – while also making it next to impossible for US autos to sell on foreign soil?
