PS: since the factory HU uses a cd for navigation does that mean that you cant play music cds while you use the navigation

No factory nav radio will work properly in your truck without Bose.

And your right about not being able to play music cd's while using the navigation. The only way around that is to get a cd changer.

I believe you can use the factory nav unit out of a Buick Rendevous if you don't have Bose. The Rendevous uses JBL (instead of Bose) for their "high end" audio option. Take my advice with a grain of salt here, as I've never done a TNR install without Bose myself.

I know for a fact that it is POSSIBLE one way or another to do this though, as JPCustoms.com offers non-Bose factory navs. I believe they are using Rendevous units, but I don't know this for a fact.

endo is right, you can use a nav out of a Rendevous. Do a search for the part number.
